Community consultation for meaningful and impactful design

To better understand the needs of The Centre's audience, we conducted discovery workshops with current learners. We asked them to give feedback on their recent enrolment experience and asked what improvements and features they would like to see on the new website.

Using learner insights for inclusive design

The discovery workshops are an example of our commitment to getting to know an organisation and the people and community they represent. We value their perspective and engagement in the process so that we can design and build a system that better meets their needs and improves their future outcome.

Practical solutions to meet users needs

The feedback sessions gave us the opportunity to talk to the people we were designing for - and while some suggestions offered logical solutions (“put a large phone number!”) other insights informed our design around content, terminology and functionality.

Better navigation and functionality

With over 5000 people a year participating in The Centre’s education, skills and community development programs, accessibility was a key requirement. To assist people with lower reading/writing capacity, vision impairment or cognitive disability we restructured the site architecture for simple and intuitive navigation with clear pathways for learners to access important information like locations and fees.

Storytelling for greater engagement

Insights highlighted that users wanted to hear real stories of past learners who had been successful and overcome their challenges. Content modules for video and images were part of our design so that The Centre could easily communicate these stories to boost engagement. Since launch they have seen a jump in page views by over 300%.

Testimonial

“They were especially good at bringing our organisation and our customers experiences together... and translating that into a website that delivers a great experience.”

Sixheads was great in the whole process of getting our new website in place. They were especially good at bringing our organisation and our customers experiences together in the planning stage, and translating that into a website that delivers a great experience. We also really appreciate their ability to keep accessibility a primary goal when working on functionalities, design and content.
